03

Related peoples, distinct names

The Tribe identifies Jiwere/Otoe and Nutachi/Missouria as related peoples with their own names and histories. This Otoe reading route uses the joint government’s publications while keeping Missouria visible as a distinct historical people. A shared government does not make the names interchangeable.

04

Big Blue River and removal

The Tribe describes a Nebraska Big Blue River reservation period and 1881 removal to Red Rock. The 1854 edited treaty offers a separate view of written land, relocation and payment terms. Comparing them raises implementation questions without identifying the modern photograph at Surprise as an exact former settlement.
